Join me in supporting real change. Let's support good in the world and make a difference. Help us a pathway out of homelessness for our neighbors and support Downtown Streets Team.
It’s me again – a day late and a dollar short – seeking your most generous help. You may recall in September 2018, I participated in the Downtown Streets Team’s Over the Edge fundraising experience. I rappelled 236 feet down the Adobe Building in San Jose to raise money to help unhoused individuals through job training and housing throughout the San Francisco Bay Area
I need to thank everyone immensely for their support last year because I raised $6,785 for the Downtown Streets Team (“DST”) to improve people’s lives. Yes, it was a little scary, but totally worth it for us all to be part of the positive impact DST is having in the Bay Area. And similar to last year, I should have sent out this message asking for your help a few weeks ago. But we all know how busy things get and well, it’s happened again. Nonetheless, I hope you’re still reading and are willing to help.
This year I am trying to raise $5,000 or more. If that happens, you again get to see me dangling twelve stories above you in a sexy harness outfit and crying (just a little bit). This spectacle will be on display for your viewing pleasure on Saturday, September 21, time TBD. This gives me about three weeks to reach my financial goal and my fundraising page can be found here:
I would love your help in any amount! The link above is the best way to donate, but you can contact me if you need other options. I thank you so much in advance. You can keep reading to learn more about the Downtown Streets Team.
Information about how the DST accomplishes its mission can be found here: http://streetsteam.org/model Their model and approach to ending homelessness is effective, empowering, and is really helping to make downtown San Jose an even more outstanding community! How does DST work? The organization provides homeless and low-income women and men with the resources they need to rebuild their lives. They volunteer on a DST teams and work collaboratively on community clean-up and beautification projects. These Team Members are held accountable and trusted to complete tasks, show up on time, and work well with others. In return for this work and dedication, Team Members can receive a non-cash stipend to help cover their basic needs, while taking advantage of DST case management and employment services to find housing and a job. The ultimate goal is to transition Team Members into employment because having a job restores hope and opens the door to other opportunities. The DST model is structured to be a one-year transitional program into permanent housing and employment.
The impact of DST’s work in San Jose has been tremendous. They have employed 969 individuals and housed 925 in just a short period of time. Our fundraising efforts will make this work even more effective. I am asking for your help in this Downtown Drop endeavor and in the cause to help eliminate homelessness in this community. I know this request is somewhat last minute and also comes with a time crunch, but I hope you can spare a minute and some dollars to see me go Over the Edge!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I thank you all in advance for your time, support, and generosity (in any amount!). I look forward to making my goal and seeing you all on September 21st at the Adobe Building downtown San Jose.
